Services

I work with ages twelve and older. My approach to therapy is integrative and holistic drawing on: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Attachment Theory; operating from a Strengths-based approach. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) using as a tool in our work together when appropriate. Our time will be tailored based on your goals and needs.

Nothing will work unless you do

Mia Angelou

I know that the first step of reaching out to a therapist can be overwhelming. I am here to provide a confidential, non-judgmental, safe environment to work together at whatever pace is comfortable to you.

In order for me to get to know you and your history we will begin with a biopsychosocial assessment to look in depth at the interconnection of biological, psychological and social factors contributing to your goals for our time working together.

We will then work together to set your individual goals, prioritizing based on your needs and desired outcomes.

We'll work together looking deeper into the reasons behind your struggles, triggering events, the ways you process thoughts and your responses, recognizing unhealthy patterns, explore past attempts to achieve change and examine how problems are affecting your current daily functioning.

Ultimately we’ll create new healthy habits and lifestyle to achieve goals while discovering a healthier version of yourself.

Are sessions online

At this time therapy sessions are virtual and in person in the state of New York and virtual in Connecticut through a HIPAA compliant Electronic Medical Record (EMR) with a patient portal for secure communication.

How long is each session and how often?

50 minute weekly or biweekly sessions. Additional sessions can be added if needed between scheduled session. If my schedule allows and there is a need for a shorter session between your scheduled session a 15-30 minute session will be available on as needed only basis and not regularly scheduled.

What payment methods do you accept?

A credit card will be saved in a secure database for all patients, the credit card will be charged after each session. If in person, cash and check will be a payment option at the time of your session. My fee is $150 per session. Most insurance plans have the option for you to submit a super bill (provided by me monthly after your payment for the session) for a % of the session reimbursement. I can discuss the process of using behavioral health benefits with you if you are interested. I am in network with a limited number of commercial insurance plans in the state of NY (I am not in network with Medicare or Medicaid plans).

What is your cancellation and reschedule policy?

If you are unable to attend your appointment, please give at least 24 hours notice of your cancellation in order to avoid being charged a fee. Sessions cancelled or rescheduled with 24 hour or more notice will not be charged. For cancellation 24 hours or less there will be a charge of 50% of my hourly rate. For a no show without cancellation there will be a charge of the full hourly rate.

Can I use my insurance?

As mentioned, I am in network with a limited number of insurance plans in the state of NY only. Otherwise I am considered out of network with commercial insurance companies in NY and CT (see above payment method section) this means I do not bill your insurance directly. I will provide a super bill (this is an insurance specific receipt) for any services rendered.  You can then submit this superbill to your insurance company for session reimbursement if you have Out of Network Benefits for behavioral health. Insurance companies will typically reimburse you for a portion or percentage of your therapy expenses. If interested in using you commercial insurance plan please include the company in your message to me and I can let you know if in network or out of network benefits will apply.

To check if your specific insurance plan has out-of-network benefits you will need to call the number on the back of the insurance card and ask about out of network behavioral health benefits, your deductible and % of reimbursement, how to submit information and inquire if there are a maximum number of benefits. I can provide specific codes that I use for insurance billing for you to discuss with your insurance provider.

If interested, I can supply contact information for a company who can look into your specific out of network benefits for you, then providing you information on reimbursement, as well as submit claims on your behalf.
